Country Estates was founded in 1982 by Gloria Koch, a visionary Realtor® who sought the freedom to innovate and personalize her approach to real estate. After earning her broker’s license, she opened her own company, steering clear of the constraints typically imposed by franchises and managing brokers. Her first office was a modest yet welcoming space nestled beside a cheese store in a quaint strip mall, with open fields stretching beyond. This humble beginning laid the foundation for what would become a beacon of bespoke luxury real estate services, driven by Gloria’s unyielding passion for excellence and her deep commitment to her clients

Gloria was fiercely competitive and confident as one of the few women broker/owners of the time. She always saw the best in people, but she was also hard on her agents and expected a lot. No excuses – step up and take care of your clients. She may have intimidated a few of the men she worked with, but she also liked to see women succeed and encouraged them to make real estate their career.
Gloria opened her office with just a few agents. Rosemarie Ogan was a real estate novice when Gloria convinced her to come on board. She had bought and sold enough homes of her own to be familiar with the process, but selling real estate was a whole new venture. Rose listened, learned and soaked up all the knowledge and competitiveness Gloria had to offer. It kept her on her toes and she is still a highly successful agent with Country Estates.
Education and Schools
When Carolyn Strout interviewed with Gloria 32 years ago, she learned the mission statement – to have fun and everyone was part of the family. At that time, the internet was just beginning, MLS books came out once a week and new listing pages were delivered to all the offices to be added to the book. There were no MLS photos and fax machines were new. Solano county had no property inspections, there were no disclosures, just a much shorter contract than we have today. Appointments were made to present an offer in person to the seller and listing agent.
Times may have changed but the basic foundation Country Estates was built on remains the same. We began and continue to be a family-owned company, proudly invested in our local communities. Our purpose is to help people meet their real estate goals and, in the process, ensure that every dollar spent here locally is supporting other family-owned businesses.
